Stress Assessment and Research Center (STAR)
The Hacettepe University Stress Assessment and Research Center (STAR) was established to investigate the prevalence and causes of psychological stress and related mental disorders, as well as the risk factors associated with stress-related disorders. It also aims to provide education on these topics, primarily to medical students and psychiatry residents, but also to psychologists, nurses, social workers, and other professionals interested in the field. In our research meetings, medical students, nurses, and doctors present articles and research plans on many topics, including post-traumatic students stress, misophonia, anxiety, and prolonged grief. Trainings and seminars are also conducted. The center, which operates under the Rectorate of Hacettepe University, was officially approved by the university board of directors in August 2015 and by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) in October 2015. The center is governed by a five-member executive board appointed by the Rectorate every three years. It also has an advisory board consisting of experts from within Hacettepe, from other institutions, and abroad.
